A delicious breakfast or brunch recipe to make anytime! It's incredibly easy to whip up in the morning to start your day off right. If you have any stale bread lying around, this recipe is the perfect way to turn it into something sweet and scrumptious!
To make 4 slices of toast:
Ingredients
1 large egg
1/2 cup milk or half and half
1/2 tbsp granulated sugar
1/2 tbsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
4 slices sandwich bread
2 tbsp butter or coconut oil
Instructions
1. Egg mixture: Whisk together the egg, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon in a bowl or shallow baking dish.
2. Coat bread: Place bread slices one at time into the egg mixture and flip after about 2 seconds to coat both sides. Don't leave the bread in for too long, as it will absorb more liquid and take longer to cook through.
3. Cook toast: Melt butter or heat some coconut oil in a large skillet or a griddle. Place bread slices in skillet or on griddle and cook on medium heat until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes (depending on how thick the bread slices are and how much liquid they have absorbed, it could be 4-5 minutes). Flip to cook the other side as well. Serve immediately or keep warm in oven until ready to serve. Drizzle some maple syrup, add some berries if you want. Enjoy!
