A fast, easy, and dare I say healthy fry recipe that takes minutes to make and minutes to eat. These can be baked or popped into the air fryer for crispier fries in less time.
To make about 2 servings:
Ingredients
2 medium sweet potatoes
1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt (more to taste)
Freshly ground black pepper
1/2 tsp. chili powder (optional)
Instructions
1. Seasoning: Peel and cut the sweet potatoes into 1/4" - 1/2" wide, about 3" long sticks. In a large bowl, drizzle the potatoes with olive oil and add the garlic powder (or other spices you want). Sprinkle salt and black pepper and toss the sweet potatoes until coated evenly with seasoning.
2a. Cooking (Air Fryer): Start with about 1/3 of the sweet potato fries and spread an even layer of sweet potato fries at the bottom of the air fryer basket (try not to let them overlap). Cook at 390 F for 5-7 minutes, flip and mix the fries, and cook for 5-7 more minutes (around 10 - 12 total). Repeat for the rest of the fries - work in batches.
Left: First batch of fries at the bottom of the air fryer. Middle: Fries after the first 6 minutes of cooking (mixed and flipped). Right: Fries after the second 6 minutes of cooking.
2b. Cooking (Oven): If you don't have an air fryer, no worries! Start by preheating the oven to 400 F. Spread the sweet potato fries evenly over baking sheets. Bake about 15 minutes until brown and crisp on the bottom, flip and mix the fries, and bake about 10 more minutes until the other side is crisp.
3. Final Touches: Take out the first batch of fries, and as the others are cooking, sprinkle some more black pepper, salt, and garlic powder to taste. Enjoy!
