Cookies are the best dessert. Period. Ok, I might be biased, but I promise this recipe will change your mind. These chocolate chip cookies are the perfect balance between chewy and crunchy (the best type) and filled with sweet, chocolatey goodness. I've scoured the internet for the *perfect* chocolate chip cookie recipe, as well as done my own experimentation, and this one checks every box!
To make 18 cookies:
Ingredients
114 g butter - softened
70 g white (granulated) sugar
80 g light brown sugar packed
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
1 large egg
180 g all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp sea salt
150 g chocolate chips (alternates: chunks or chopped chocolate)
Instructions
1. Pre-baking Preparation: Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Line a baking pan with parchment paper.
2. Dry Ingredients: In a small bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, salt, and baking powder.
3. Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, combine the white sugar, light brown sugar, and butter and cream them together with an electric whisk. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until the mixture becomes fluffy.
4. Form the Dough: Mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients (tip: it might be easier to mix in half the flour mixture first, then the other half). Gently fold in the chocolate chips. Roll 2-3 tbsp of dough (depending on how large you want the cookies to be) into balls and place them about 2 inches apart on your prepared baking sheets.
Left: Separate dry and wet ingredients. Middle: Combined dry + wet ingredients and chocolate chips. Right: Rolled dough evenly spaced on baking sheet.
5. Baking: Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 10-12 minutes. The key to keep these cookies chewy on the inside yet crispy on the edges is to not overbake them, so keep an eye on the clock! Take the cookies out when they are slightly brown on the top and edges. Let them sit on the baking pan for 2 minutes before removing them to cooling rack. Enjoy!
